Hello, I’m Tasi Glass (pronounced like Stacey without the S), Owner and Principal Teacher of Glass House of Music. The piano has always been a central part of my life, and I share my passion as a piano teacher and performer. I have experience playing as a recitalist and collaborative pianist. Accompanying student performances is among my favourite ways to support young musicians.
I have taught piano, theory, and harmony since 2003, to hundreds of students, children and seniors alike, from beginner to ARCT level. I completed my Teacher’s ARCT and Performer’s ARCT at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). I have taught in three settings: music academies, home studios and online lessons throughout North America, including private lessons and group classes.
My Education
My education began as a child, when I studied with Murray Graham, who was primarily a children’s entertainer. I began my classical studies with Jacquie Alexandrovich, and continued to study with her for 10 years. I completed my ARCT in Pedagogy while studying with Irene Wong-Montgomery (piano), Jennifer Knelman (written pedagogy), and Mikki Leung (harmony, counterpoint & analysis). I studied with Jarred Dunn to complete my ARCT in Performance, and became his studio assistant for two years. As his assistant, I organized his international teaching schedule, master classes, and workshops. I attend his online seminars and piano lessons, and I encourage my advanced students to participate in his master classes. I attended lessons with Anna Górecka and workshops with Magdalena Lisak (professors at the Katowice Academy of Music in Poland).
“Having known Ms. Tasi Glass as a pianist for over five years (and taught her for four), I am convinced that she is a detailed, patient teacher who cares for her students’ progress and approaches them respectfully and methodically. Her students have played in my master classes and they show evidence of Tasi’s ability to help them play advanced piano literature. As my assistant, she organized my lessons, master classes, and workshops. I recommend her as a teacher to the students of the Barrie and Orillia communities.”

My Teaching Approach
I am closest to the music of Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Beethoven, and I regularly practice works by many different composers from a variety of styles. I promote Czerny and Chopin études for piano technique development. I also perform in retirement homes, where I play hits from the 1920s-1960s to enrich the lives of seniors. It’s been fulfilling to play for the residents, who love to show their enthusiasm by singing along. I also enjoy learning and playing current popular songs, which my students sometimes choose to study for their exams. Ludovico Einaudi is a new favourite contemporary composer of mine. For more details, check out my current repertoire.
I help students find the joy in music-making by adjusting to each student’s needs. I’ve prepared more than two-hundred students for RCM examinations, including:
—Piano Practical (RCM Levels 1 through 10)
—Theory (RCM Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
—Harmony (RCM Advanced Harmony, Counterpoint and Analysis)
My students consistently receive certificates with Honours, First-Class honours and First-Class Honours with Distinction, and the confidence and joy that comes with such success.
For 16 years, I taught at Peel Music Academy in Brampton. For four years during that time I also worked as a teacher and studio manager at Knelman Music Studio, until Glass House of Music first opened in Brampton in 2012. It relocated to Barrie in 2019 with piano students in Barrie taking their RCM exams in 2020. I have 5 years of online teaching experience, and have been teaching exclusively online since the beginning of the pandemic.
“Tasi was our daughter’s first piano teacher. She is great at teaching kids and making the process of learning enjoyable and puts her students at ease. Tasi’s teaching style informs the student as well as allows them to be creative and feel like they are having fun. Tasi communicates well with the kids and parents and is very giving of her time. She cares about her students and their progress and you can tell that teaching is a passion and not just a job.”
